If you want to know the secret to getting noticed or being featured on the best dressed list then you’ve come to the right place. Have you ever wondered how your favourite celebrity, actress, musician always looks amazing, even in a basic jeans and t-shirt combo. Well, aside from having a great stylist that understand their body shape, lifestyle and personal taste, they use accessories like jewellery, scarves, sunglasses, belts and handbags etc to take their outfits to the next level.
Yep, you read that right, it’s all about getting the balance between clothing and accessories right. Both should have their own space to shine bright, but they should also work as a team to create an amazing finished look. In this post I’m going to focus on how to accessorise an outfits using jewellery.
Remember accessorising is an art form that will take trial and error to get it right, so don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get it right the first time around. Practice makes perfect!!
I think that the collar-bone is the sexiest part of a woman’s body therefore, wearing a piece of jewellery that draws attention to this area is always a winner. The right statement necklace has the ability to elevate your personal style. The great thing about this piece of jewellery is that it can be worn as part of a casual , work or evening look. There’re different styles of necklaces that suit different necklines, to ensure that you get the right necklace for the right neckline please see below. If you choose to wear a statement necklace I recommend wearing minimal jewellery elsewhere, like studded earring or rings, to allow the necklace to have its moment to shine.
Try wearing a short delicate chain or choker, or a heavier V-shaped pendant (see below). These styles placed cleverly on the exposed chest will add femininity and personality to your outfit.
CREW, SCOOPNECKS AND STRAPLESS
Statement necklaces look fabulous with these necklines. Chokers, short rounded necklaces and long V-shaped pendants are a great choice.
BUTTON UP COLLARS
If you wear your shirt open this creates a v-neckline, therefore I would apply the same rules as above. If however, you decide to button up the shirt, opt for a short round statement necklace or a long stacking necklace.
Statement earrings have been centre stage for some time now and it doesn’t look as though they are going anywhere. I personally love oversized earrings in all shapes and sizes and love the fact that they can be styled in so many different ways. statement earrings will elevate a casual look and they look great when teamed with polo necks, ruffled necklines, button up shirts, t-shirts and knitwear. if you choose to wear statement earrings I recommend wearing them with rings and/or stacking bracelets.
The secret to stacking bracelets is to mix bracelets made of different materials, fabrics, sizes and colours. You can even add a watch into the mix too!! If you’re wearing a long sleeve top or knitwear you can layer over the top of the sleeve with chunky cuffs or bracelets, this will add a luxe vibe to your otherwise casual outfit. Alternatively roll up your sleeve and expose enough skin to stack your bracelets.
Whether it’s a night out or a casual day in the office rings are always a good idea. You can opt for the stand alone delicate ring that gives a feminine touch to your outfit or your can opt for stacked rings across multiple fingers for an edgier look. The unique design of ring(s) these days means you can choose what statement you wish to make and display it on your fingers. Stacked rings always look fabulous with statement earrings or statement necklaces or stacked bracelets. coordinating your rings and bracelets will elevate your look and your overall personal style.
